Take Your Guest Bedroom to the Next Level

Take Your Guest Bedroom to the Next Level

You get a call from a friend saying that she'll be in town next week and wants to stay with you for a couple nights. Suddenly, your thoughts shoot straight to your neglected guest bedroom. It's filled with miscellaneous items that don't fit in your other rooms, and the bedding hasn't been touched in months.

Studies have shown that people naturally have more trouble sleeping the first night in a new environment. If you want your guest to be as comfortable as possible, make sure that your guest bedroom contains all the features needed for a good night's sleep.

If you’re ready to impress your visitor, then it’s time to upgrade your guest bedroom. Follow our tips to elevate your guest bedroom into a 5-star hotel experience.

1. Clear out the clutter.

Don't stress out your guests with a room full of knickknacks and doodads! Considering that many guest bedrooms gradually become an unintentional storage room, it’s important to clear the clutter and create a truly peaceful environment for your guests.

Start by packing away any boxes or junk that might be on the floor. Then, assess the tabletops. Ideally, the nightstand should only house three items maximum to avoid looking cluttered.

2. Provide a few magazines on the bedside table.

If you've got a stockpile of old magazines, save a couple for the guest bedroom and place them on the nightstand. Reading is one of the most relaxing activities and can easily elevate your guest's experience.

3. Keep a basket next to the bed with extra blankets and pillows.

Everyone has different preferences when it comes to bedding, so it helps to keep a few options at hand. Stash a firm pillow, a soft pillow, and a few blankets in a basket next to the bed for easy access.

4. Stock a shelf or table with some snacks.

Place some packaged snacks on a nearby table or shelf so that your guest can satisfy any midnight munchies without having to tiptoe to the kitchen in the middle of the night. Your guest will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

5. Install blackout curtains or provide an eye mask.

Street lights peeking through the window at night can make it more difficult to fall asleep. Allow your guest to fully relax in a dark environment by installing blackout curtains or providing a comfortable eye mask.

6. Add air purifying house plants.

Not only do plants add visual interest to a space, but they also purify the air and improve sleep quality without having to spend tons of money.

We recommend the peace lily, spider plant, or dracaena, which are all low maintenance house plants that require minimal sunlight.

7. Create the perfect bed setup with our Eden Pillow and Protector Bundle.

Built with a waterproof layer, our Pillow and Mattress Protectors defend against sweat, stains, spills, and more so you can keep your bedding fresh and clean for all your future visitors.

Most waterproof protectors are loud and crinkly, but we've designed ours to stay soft, silent, and breathable for optimal comfort.
